Thanks guys for another great race!

If I can just make our suggestion from a number of paddlers in our group. Please could you split the two marshals at Mountain blast. One at the top and one at the island to guide the paddlers through? Also, at "Meanie" you really need two guys that are co-ordinated because there is not much time to make a decison so the first marshal should be sitting on that big rock at the top of the rapid and not on the bank halfway though when its way too late to listen to him! otherwise just one marshal in the position at the ledge so as you come round the corner you can aim for him!

To Nils, Marius, Pat, Patrick, Dale and all the behind the scenes helpers,Well done on another great weekend for all of us from the bright lights of Gauteng, the Cape and KZN. It was yet another memorable Ithala Challenge. I think this was a special one indeed, and you guys really went the extra mile to make the 10th event a special one, and in particular to Honour Julius for pioneering this event for us to enjoy. I was very pleased that GV Price was able to say a few words about his old partner and that the family were able to be present to unveil the plaque for Julius. Thanks again for a great event. We all, I am sure, are looking forward to the 2012 edition same time next year.

Cheers

Marius, Pat, Andrew, Patrick....well done again gents on a fantastic week end up in the hills far away from the bright lights of Durban. We could not have asked for better. Weather, water level and all the rest was all perfect for a good paddle on saturday. I would like to make comment or mention of 3 things:
1) Next year it is the 10th race ( I think ). I notice at the start they are busy building a neat stone wall. I had a thought while waiting for the start. I think we should see if we can erect a small memorial for Oom Julius somewhere at the start and unveil it at the start of next years event. I am not sure what it should be but the idea was in my head and I am merely passing it on to you gents who I am sure will use it and we can expect something next year.
2 ) Hank & Ken saw a monster croc in the Bivane. As they were in the lead the fella obviously got a fright and scuttled into the water as no one else had come past as yet. I am not syure what you can do about this but maybe we need to be a little morte cautious in future and warn the guys that these okes are around. I am not so sure that this big guy would stop the event form taking place but it would be sad to lose someone to him without us having taken any precautions against him eating one of us. I am not sure if Ken and Hank reported it or not but I am merely passing on the info to you if they have not as yet.
3 ) Some of us have been doing your great event for some tiome now and we thought that it is maybe time to introduce a Legends batch. Maybe to saunter off after A batch. Just a thought, and once again we are in your hands here....no pressure. I just like to pass info on to you guys and you know the event better than all of us and what it can and cant cope with.

Once again many thanks for having us up in your neck of the woods and we look forward to visiting again next year.

If any of my comments need futher explanation please feel free to give me a call.

Many thanks and well done

Cheers

Any chance you guys can ease up on the R600 entry fee for those of us who cannot get accommodation in the park and have to self cater some distance from the start/finish? It becomes an expensive weekend. Otherwise thanks for a great race.

My partner,Wayne, asks why dont we have a Kareoke evening after prizegiving? He entered SA has Talent as a breakdancer and although only made the 1st round feels he could entertain the paddlers?

Thank you so much to the organisers and sponsers for what's got to be one of the best races on the canoeing calendar. A real test of mental and physical endurance, but not to be missed. Please can you let us know where a full set of results can be obtained?

Back home after the 2008 race and the only bad bit is that I have a year to wait till I can do it again. Awesome race - even though the level was lower than previously it was no problem for me as it was my first race and I had nothing to compare it to. Thanks for the camping, the lighting provided, the great meals, the marshalls and everything.

Paddling this river, what a privilege. Vote of thanks to the organisers of Umfolozi Canoe Club, helpers and sweeps for putting on this fantastic event. Thanks again also for helping Jacquo and myself after the finish in the game park. This kind help was way beyond expectation and sportsmanship shown much appreciated. Best regards Mat

To Marius and his team, well done on the organization of the race; an exceptionally difficult race to organise given the circumstances. To the sweeps which we spent the last 1/3 of the race with, we take our hats off to you. To get on the water at 6 in the morning and finish in the dark, just past 7 bells takes something special. Thanks.
As with all difficult races, memory fades with time and we come back the following year.

Many thanks to all the sweeps, marshals and officials who must have had a very long day out there. Thanks to the double who lent us a roll of duct tape that helped us get to the finish. Thanks again for accepting our late entry and our late finishing time. May the rains begin. Thanks again Mark

Does anybody know who stripped my K2 (green Fanfare 1007) on Saturday night/Sunday morning in the parking area? It is one of the broken boats that came back with the tractor. It's approx. R1000 of damage- 2 seats, 2whale pumps, foot rest, juice bags, peddles and cables stolen. Any information will be appreciated.
